This wood and ivory chest (Height: 35.60cm; Length: 53.30cm) was found in Sri Lanka, just south of India. It is believed to be made as gifts or export items for Europeans. Around the sides are dancers, musicians, and mythical animals. The inside of this box is lined with blue cloth painted with a network of birds and branches. This discovery suggests the route that such luxury items travelled overland from India to the Roman world.
