Abstract Expressionists

Abstract Expressionism developed between the 1940's-1960's. After WWII, artists were drawn to exploring the human mind, the subconscious, and the sublime. Many artists were so dismayed by human behavior after the war that artists were trying to explore a more sensitive, thoughtful side of the human condition.
