Paintings of Dordrecht, Netherlands

Dordrecht is one of the oldest towns in the Netherlands. Here, the first meeting of free states against the rule of King Philip of Spain was held. Later, the first Dutch "States" translation of the Bible was initiated here. The painter Albert Cuyp was born here. The town is located on an island between the rivers Rhine, Maas and Kil. The world famous windmill area of Kinderdijk is a little more up north.

This map of Holland is not at all correct. The river North, between Dordrecht and the river Lek, is missing.
