Embrasse moi: different loves for different hearts

As sure as life and death is the human experience of love.  Love in all of it's various forms is a universal theme and one that has been explored by artists, writers, play-writes, poets, and directors across time and in every country and culture around the world.   "Embrasse Moi: Different Loves for Different Hearts" looks at the work of 15 artists who have in some way told a story about a kind of love through their work.  These types of love range from unrequited love, to companionate love and infatuation.  The works presented range stylistically from classical Baroque paintings to contemporary photography, but share a commonality at the same time.  They tell us that while the world around us has changed quite dramatically, the way in which we move through it and respond to it emotionally has not.  Love is a universal human experience, but it is also a profoundly unique experience and the choices that I have made in the selection of these works reflect my own understanding and experience of this expansive and eternal subject.                                                                                                            "There are as many kinds of love as there are hearts." -Leo Tolstoy
