A Touch Of Crazy

"Art should disturb the comfortable and comfort the disturbed."  - Author Unknown

Ever since I first heard the song "Starry Starry Night" by Don Mclean when I was a little girl, I have loved "Starry Night" by Vincent Van Gogh. The sky looks as if its moving, as if its alive. The colors work together and compliment each other perfectly. Vincent might not have thought his works were any good, but this one is amazing and one of my favorites.
I have always had a passion for singing, I just lack the courage to actually sing in front of people. I like this piece, because to me old vintage microphones represent a time when music was at its best. During the times of Motown, the British Invasion, and singers such as Frank Sinatra, Elvis, and Ray Charles.
The French coast, by Claude Monet. I have French in my ancestry, and have always been interested in learning and seeing more from France. This painting shows the french coast at either sunset or sunrise. I may never get the chance to got to France and see this wonderful sight, but with this piece I can still see it and imagine.
When I was younger, I saw a program about a forgotten Egyptian queen. This show jump-started my love of history, and the queen's name was Nefertiti. Queen Nefertiti was queen just before the time of King Tut, she was his step-mother. After she died, many of her images and mentions of her were taken down. Anytime I find something about her, I am instantly interested.
I was searching for fairytale images when I came across this. This image reminds me of many different things at once, such as something from Alice in Wonderland. One of the things this mostly reminds me of are those "I Spy" books from my childhood, I feel like I have to find all the hidden objects in the clutter. This piece gave me a wave of nostalgia, and made me smile.
This piece is beautiful, but that is not the only reason why I like it. On one hand, I see this piece as bit of an optical illusion that is supposed to shift from side to side. On the other hand, I think that this pattern is interesting with the interesting shapes and the cool colors (no pun intended).
I love gardens. I cannot garden to save my life and I am not really an outdoor person, but seeing a garden that is in full bloom with greenery all around is something beautiful. I like this piece because it reminds me of the move "The Secret Garden", where a girl and her two friends restore an old garden to its former glory.
Irises are my favorite flowers, and this piece just so happens to be by one of my favorite artists. Vincent put so much detail into these flowers, and they look so life-like. And until now, I have never notice the white iris in the corner. I like purple irises but white ones are so much more unique and rare, which is why I like them more.
Roses are another flower that I like, unique types of roses even more. I have never heard of cotton roses before now, and they are beautifully portrayed here. I once heard a young artist say that putting things on brown paper, or canvas, can make a piece pop more and here it is clearly evident. This piece is absolutely gorgeous.
Another one of my all time favorite paintings, Water Lilies. To be honest the first time I saw this painting, it was a copy that was used as a prop in the movie "Titanic". Still, this piece is beautiful with the amount of detail Monet put into not just the flowers but also the water on which the flowers rest. Beautiful work.
