Despair and Hope

This gallery contains two separate works of art that relate to the book "Night". They represent the themes of hope and despair, and they show the impact these emotions had on Elie's life.

While imprisioned in a concentration camp, depression came over Elie. Almost all hope was lost but a small amount. The barren landscape reminds me of how all good things were taken away from Elie, and he was left with nothing.
Elie's life was filled with darkness, but he clung to a small bit of hope. God is the light in our lives that will always be there for us. That is why I chose this painting, because the Shepard is being lead by the light of God.
