Women are not Equal

The struggle that women have went though n the past centuries is highlighted in the work of A Vindication of the Rights of Woman by feminist Mary Wollstonecraft. She agrues that women should seek education and that women are the essential part of nation because they educate children and they serve as a companion to their husband rather then mere wives. “To preserve personal beauty, woman's glory! the limbs and faculties are cramped with worse than Chinese bands, and the sedentary life which they are condemned to live, whilst boys frolic in the open air”. Wollstonecraft is a pioneer because she calls for equality among the sexes however never directly states that men and women are equal. “Mary Wollstonecraft's work was received with a mixture of admiration and outrage - Walpole called her 'a hyena in petticoats' - yet it established her as the mother of modern feminism”.-Miriam Brody
