The goals of women was to have freedom, equal opportunity and control over their lives. Alice Paul and Rosa Parks both took leaderships during the civil rights movement because they were willing to put themselves against the law and wanted women rights. The result was higher expectation of women.
The goals of immigrants is to end deportation, and to gain equal rights. Angela Sanbrano, was a major protest to demonstrate opposition to H.R 4437 which border protection. The result of Angela’s protest, was the National Alliance of Latin American and Caribbean Communities.
First, both struggles took place over a very long period of time. The women's rights movement in the United States dates back to at least the 1840’s. Also Immigration started in 1880’s. Second, both struggles have involved a mix of strategies. In both cases, legal action has been used to advance the cause. However, both movements have also used things like direct action and protest as tactics.
I think that the women's movement was more successful at achieving their goal because I feel they put themselves against the law more than immigrants. Also the immigrants just protected, but the women went out and broke the law. I feel that women fought for control which I admire that, yet immigrants just fought for equality. Finally I just think that women have a bigger impact on society than immigrants.
