My Gallery of Nice Things and Stuff (a little bit like Pinterest but somehow different, less trivial perhaps . I don't really know, I think this name is too long for a gallery, the branding would be ridiculous)
Welcome to my gallery. Delight in the sounds of your own footsteps as you silently wander/creep (upto you) (THIS IS A METAPHOR by the way) around the empty hallways of my mind
Boulevard Montmartre, morning, cloudy weather, Camille Pissarro, 1897, From the collection of: National Gallery of Victoria
I like the way it's disturbingly realistic, but ONLY from a distance. Like looking through the wrong end of a telescope, but suddenly everything makes sense. You get a feel for the liveliness of the boulevard and the city.
Dona rera persiana (Woman Against a Blind), Ramón Casas, 1890, From the collection of: Fundación Banco Santander
I love how casual this image appears. It has a certain timeless feel. I couldn't place the girl/location if I tried.
Evening Glow, John Atkinson Grimshaw, 1836–1893, British, ca. 1884, From the collection of: Yale Center for British Art
Grimshaw was clearly overlooked by many art historians. All I can say is, he does a bloody good tree. His ability to capture those cold but cozy quintessentially British scenes is just astounding.
