virtues of art

The meaning of art has long been considered integral to appreciating it, even if those meanings can be entirely subjective.  However subjective the meaning, art itself has extreme value to society in many aspects.  This collection of works is by no means exhaustive of either virtues or illustrations of it, but it begins to demonstrate the societal importance of art in its instructive, innovative and demonstrative nature.  Many of the works chosen are not the most famous works of these artists, but they seem to indicate most clearly some of the admirable attributes of either the artist or their work.  The virtues explored in this exhibit are compassion, inspiration, the ability to dream, beauty in the mundane, art as a mirror, uplifting our spirit, conversation with history, adventure, and the art of seeing.
