Women's role in society has changed drastically over time; Both Freud and Sophocles display a similar theme in their works "Introductory Lectures on Psycho-Analysis" and "Antigone" in that they degrade, devalue, and disrespect women which has a profound impact on the views of women in today's society. Freud most commonly disrespects women, he sees them as nothing more than a sex object used to satisfy men. Antigone on the other hand, focuses on over powering women and proving the point that no woman has the right to undermine or disobey any man in society. The similar and different ways that Freud and Sophocles present the this theme are portrayed in the following gallery.
