Dramatic Waters

i am choosing pieces of artwork that have to do with water. i chose that theme because that paintings are beautiful and i love the water in all of them. My paintings will show a variety of bodies of water. They are all unique in different ways.

The painting is about a lighthouse that is in the middle of a storm. The medium used is watercolor. i chose it because it went with my theme of water. The style of painting is representational. Representational means that it depicts things that people can easily tell what they are. The artist never actually visited the the lighthouse. There are no symbols. The overall mood is stormy, and dangerous.
The painting is about an completely isolated island.Oil on wood is used for this painting. I chose it because i loved the painting and the island is isolated. The style is German Romans. The artist was a symbolist Swiss painter. The trees are a symbol that something can live on this island. The overall mood is sadness and despair, but it has a little bit of joy because the trees are alive.
The painting is about people coming on horses to a beautiful castle that overlooks the water.Oil on canvas is used for this painting. i chose it because of the water in the background and the beauty of the castle. The style is Romantik. The artist was a architect, city planner, and a painter. There are no symbols. The overall mood is romance.
I think the painting is about a ship that is finally starting on a new journey. Oil on canvas is used. I picked this painting because i liked the way how the ships are going instead of coming. The style of art is surrealism ( when an artist paints things that are familiar but makes them mysterious). The artist is Claude Monet, who is the founder of impressionist painting. The symbol is the lighthouse. The lighthouse symbolizing hope. The overall mood is dark and mysterious.
I think the painting is about ships coming home from a long war. Etching and dry point on paper is the medium used. I chose it because i love the way it was painted. The style of painting is realism, it looks exactly like it did if it happened. The artist created this artwork in Kansas but he was born in Massachusetts. The symbol of the ships coming home means that even after tragedy, we will always have our home. The overall mood is sadness, with a hint relief because they are home.
The painting is about a person lost at sea trying to find their way home. The medium is oil on canvas.I chose it because of how pretty the moon is reflected on the water. The style of painting is surrealism, and dreamlike. This painting was the artist's first oil painting at the Royal Academy. No symbols. The overall mood is gloomy.
The painting is about an eerie night on the ocean. Oil on canvas is used. I chose it because of the reflection on the water from the moon. The style is surrealism. The artist was called the artist of light. The moonlight is a symbol of light and hope in the darkness. The overall mood is dark and gloomy.
i think the painting is about a painting a big wave coming to destroy the world.Oil on canvas is used. I chose it because of the clouds and the intensity of the water. The style is realism. The artist was French, he led the realist movement. No symbols. The overall mood is a sense of doom.
The painting is about a monk watching the sea calmly. Oil on canvas is used. I chose this because of the how beautiful the sky is and how it blends into the water. The style of painting is Romantik. The artist worked on this painting for two years. No symbols. The overall mood is serenity.
The painting is about the beauty of the water breaking on the shore. The medium is oil on canvas.I chose it because it reminds me of the ocean, how it can be calm one moment and insane the next. The style is realism, painting things how they look. The artist had always admired the waves, and in 1890 he started Sunlight on the Coast. The waves breaking is a symbol of continuous struggle. The waves will never stop crashing on the shore. The overall mood is hope. The struggle between the surf and the shore might never end, but in the distance the sunlight is peeling through. Hope is on its way
I think the painting is about a English boat that is traveling home from a long journey. Watercolor is used for this painting. I chose it because of how the colors blend and i really liked the boat on the left side on the distance. The style is Romaticism. The artist was born in England but painted in France. The symbol in this painting is the ship on the left. It is symbolizing that no matter how far we are we can always find our way home somehow. The overall mood is hope.
The painting is about a waterfall that is pouring down. Oil on canvas is the medium. I chose is because of the way the water is falling. The water is falling fast and angry, but it still is breathtakingly beautiful. The style is realism. The artist Louis Mignot was forced to leave New York because of the Civil War. They are no symbols. The overall mood peaceful.
