This gallery consist of ten different kinds of art that the Ancient Chinese made.

Jade is a hard green stone that is used for many things. Jade is made out of Nephrite and Nephrite. Because of its hardness Jade was not able to be carved,but it was able to be shaped. Jade was used for ornaments,calligraphy brushes,swords,and for decoration. Jade was valued in Ancient China because of how beautiful and rare it was. Calligraphy is a highly stylish form of writing. The materials that they needed to write Calligraphy were brush,paper,ink stick,and ink stone. They got all their ink form ink stone. Currency was Ancient Chinese currency was money for them. The most used currency was made out of bronze or some type of metal. Later on they developed paper currency. The materials they used to make currency was bronze,copper,iron,or lead. Currency was used for paying for stuff instead of having to trade something to get the stuff you wanted. Currency was valued because it gave the Ancient Chinese a way to pay for the goods. You could get currency by selling something or you could earn it by doing something for someone. Ancient China." There were a lot of musical instruments in Ancient China. I am going to be talking about the Pipa,Guqin,Erhu,and the Guzheng. A Pipa was a four-stringed instrument belonging to the plucked category of instruments. It has a pear shaped wooden body that usually had from twelve to twenty-six frets. The Pipa was made out of different kinds of wood and silk. A Guqin which is int he picture was a seven-stringed instrument belonging to the plucked family of music. The Guqin had a long,thin body that was made out of wood,marble,and silk. It is still being played today. A Erhu is a two-stringed bowed musical instrument that looks like a fiddle. It is made out of silk and reeds that allows it to have the curved body. These items are used to make music and beautiful sounds. Silk is a thin,but strong fiber. Silkworms produce string when they make their cocoons. The materials needed to make silk are silkworms,mulberry trees,and hot water. The silk will produce silk when they eat the Mulberry trees. The Ancient Chinese would then take the cocoons and drop it in the hot water. The cocoon unravels into silk. Silk was used for making clothing and fabric. They valued silk because they were one of the first and only ones who knew how to make silk. Porcelain is a white translucent material. This is usually used for plates or cups. The materials that they needed to make porcelain were clays,feldspar or flint,and silica. Crafters would mix these raw materials together to make different types of porcelain. They have to apply heat to the raw materials to mix them together. Porcelain was used to make cups,plates,and pottery. Porcelain was valued because it had bright and beautiful colors. They could use porcelain in a lot of different ways. Fans are something that allows you to cool off and block form sun. It was originally called shelter from the sun in Ancient China. Fans were made out of bamboo strips,thin silks,feathers,leaves of sunflowers,and papers. The fans were used to block the sun and to cool you off on hot days. They were also very beautiful with many shapes and colors. Fans were valued because it allowed you to block the sun and bring them coolness. Ancient China." Ancient Chinese pottery was a way for them to show or express something. The materials that were needed to make pottery were earthenware,stoneware,porcelain,and they needed heat to bake the clay. These items were used for a variety of different things. Some was made into cups,plates,or bowls. Another way was just for decoration around your house. The Ancient Chinese valued this item because it was super durable and it let them keep it for a long time. Instead of having to buy new stuff every so often this would last them for almost a year.
