Sam Lucas' Gallery
My collection of artwork. Enjoy.
I went here to Greenwich Park in November and stood up on the hill and the landscape is so beautiful, but a bit more built up now. One of the few parts of London that I miss.
I got a chance to go to the MFA here in Boston a few times. This painting and the Monet next to it always take me away to another very calm and serene place.
One of my very favorites! I wish I could take this home and have it on my wall to look at every day. There is so much action - the waves, rocks, characters - it really is a living painting.
In a similar way, these two paintings are so full of movement also, but in a different style. I find it very easy to put myself into that boat in my imagination.
This one reminds me of home, where my parents have a small holiday home not far from here. When we go down there, we will always go fishing and look out over Mt Egmont (Mt Taranaki).
I remember studying paintings like these at school, and was so astonished at the realism in them! He paints a really nice representation of the Maori culture, along with another artist C. F. Goldie.
