Mannerism (DEW 9)

Mannerism was characterized by unusual lighting and shading effects, and an elongated and/or otherwise exaggerated bodies.

In this painting, "Christ on the Cross" by El Greco, you can see the odd lighting style and elongated body. Christ's body, particularly his torso, is quite long, and the general tone is very dark.
You can also see elements of Mannerism in this painting, called "Madonna with the long neck" by Parmigianino. Note that the sitting woman's body is very long, as is the child's.
