3rd QUarter project

This is a quarter project for one of my classes. It's about men & women in art & some things that define masculinity or femininity. (There are some extra pictures I found but didn't use so please ignore them, one of the things that I found was that more men seem to be artists now. Hunting & art both have a sense of exploration to them). Here's the link for the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i4prELKbtVg

-This man appears proud of his armor yet has the face of a humble man -Having armor was an obvious expression of masculinity back then. Armor such as this was worn by the conquistadors, which were men. -Titian had done paintings of numerous subjects, with many of them being related to Christianity.
-The man, Aeneas, protagonist of the Aeneid, watching over his family with care. -The sculpture shows Aeneas, the man, taking responsibility of escorting his family members out of Troy. -John Cheere is the one who sculpted this statue. He was a well-known sculptor in London during the 1700s
-Women looks careful, fine with showing off -Taking care of children was one of the many traits of femininity. Women were expected to take care of the children rather then men. -The artist Thomas Gainsborough is an artist who was one of the
-This women is looking away from the two other people shown in the frame -Women were separate from the men at times. This especially remains consistent with how boys were taken at a young age to be trained into spartans. -Jean Baptiste was both a landscape & portrait painter who used etching, which was using acid to cut into metal and create art from it.
-Woman looks curious, looks to outside world of adventure -Painting shows a reversal of masculinity/femininity, girl is looking to explore rather than the man aka father -Jennie Augusta Brownscombe is the artist of this picture. Did oil paintings of rural life & of significant American events.
-This shows the stern face of soldier who has seen war. -Masculinity is shown through. Ironically, critics praised her by saying she drew like a man. -Hilda Rix Nicholas is a female artist from the early-mid 1900s. She
-This woman is described as graceful & detached from her surroundings -The woman, as described above, is detached from everything around her. Therefore, being detached from reality was a feminine trait. -The painter of this, Edouard Manet, was an artist that influenced the change from realism to impressionism in art.
-This man looks proud -Masculinity seen as art, not fighting or hunting. -Benjamin J. Falk is the photographer, found light to be important for photography. Moved after highrises blocked the sun.
-These men are working together; being cooperative. -Men were often the fighters/hunters around that time due to society's view of masculinity. -was both a photographer and studied the Native American culture to spot differences between it and modern culture as we know it.
-Man is concentrating, takes interest in work -Masculinty can be seen through art, not just fighting/hunting. -The artist who took this picture remains unknown. However, Orson Welles is a well-known man who has both acted & directed movies, even being the main character in film such as Citizen Kane.
-Maria Della Costa, is shown playing "The Respectful Prostitute. -Feminity has changed. The cigar that usually identified with masculinity is now with this actress, although this could be due to prostitution instead. -The place where this is shot, Teatro Maria Della Costa, was founded by Maria & her husband.
