The Magi from the east come to honor Christ as their King, even though they are not Jews. They were probably from Persia, or Arabia. Here we see the universality of the Salvation God intended through Christ.
John was exiled by Domitian, according to Eusebius. John tells us in 1:9 of Revelation that it was while he was on Patmos that he received the Revelation from God and wrote it down. This book would become part of the Canon of Scripture.
