Supportive Images for the Standing Male Figure from the Yombe People
Here we ave another Power Figure made by the Yombe People. Notice the curled hide representing expanding energy. The cowrie shell in the middle is similar to that of The Standing Male figure.
The Yombe people were apart of the Kongo people for a while. Notice the similar use of nails to arouse the figure for protection.
Another similar idea to our main piece. The belly is a place to store medicinal substances which was another use for these figurines.
