Constantine was also a major factor during the fall of the Roman Empire. He was the first Christian emperor and he got to rule both the Western and Eastern part of Rome. Since Constantine had the whole empire at his hands, in A.D. 330, he decided to move its capital to a new city, Constantinople because the capital was too far. Constantinople used to be the old city of Byzantium.
