A Dutch Road by Anton Mauve
The Triumph of Venus by Francois Boucher
The Abduction of Europa by Rembrandt Harmensz. van Rijn
Annunciation by Leonardo da Vinci
Sacrifice of Isaac by Caravaggio Merisi The artist used a very deep color pallet; utilizing plenty of dark colors to portray the somber mood of the painting. The painting is a direct depiction of the Biblical story from Genesis wherein Abraham is called by God to sacrifice his son, Isaac. This action, in and of itself, is meant to symbolize how God would redeem the world through sacrificing His only son, Jesus. The medium seems to be oil based paints, on a large canvas.
