Inca Walk to Machu Picchu

The theme for my collection is “Inca Trail to Machu Picchu”. I decided to go with this theme because I recently walked this four day trail to Machu Picchu in Peru. On this trail, the scenery was beautiful, but it was different every day. We went from walking along the strong and refreshing looking river, to walking around very steep but gorgeous mountains and forests, until we got to the breathtaking and historical lost city of the Incas. Moreover, each one of the works I chose represents the different scenery of each day, and this is how this works connect to each other. Furthermore, I have been to a physical museum before. I recently visited the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art. I believe that the virtual museums such as those in the Google Art Project are comparable to physical museums since both allow the public to appreciate their different artworks. In my opinion, one negative that arises from such virtual/digital exhibitions is that we do not get the experience of physically seeing or standing next to prestigious pieces of art. However, I think that one positive to virtual museum exhibitions is that we can spend as much time as we like appreciating the artworks without worrying about the other people around us. In addition, I believe that the role of the “curator” in the exhibition of artworks is to collect and care for the artworks.
