Portrait Project

Gilbert Stuart was a Rhode Island artist born on December 3rd, 1975. Gilbert created over 1,000 different portraits of people including the first 6 presidents. His best known work, the half finished portrait of George Washington, was best known for being on the dollar bill for over a century. It was only partially finished because he died mid way through painting it. I think Gilbert is an inspirational artist because his artwork is used for special purposes like to be printed on the dollar bill. His portraits are special because they are visuals of important and famous human beings back in the day when there were not photographs to capture moments.
