Clare209Sum1- Fav Paint

This is my gallery of my favorite paintings from the site. I have included paintings from all different time periods. Please take notice of my descriptions under each painting. Enjoy! :)

The first painting I chose is called "Mother and Child" by Andy Warhol. I chose this painting because Andy Warhol is one of my favorite artists, known for his bright colors and somewhat quirky artwork. Fun fact- Andy Warhol, born as Andy Warhola, is from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.... which isn't too far from St. Bonaventure!
The second painting I chose is called "No Woman, No Cry" by Chris Ofili. I chose this painting because I thought it was cool that he named it after the Bob Marley song. Although this painting is from 1998, I do believe that it may be making some sort of statement about slavery or racism, for it shows an African tribal woman crying large tears.
The third and fourth paintings I chose are called "The Water Lily Pond" and "Water Lilies" by Claude Monet. I chose these paintings because I absolutely love Monet's impressionist work. Many people during the early 1900's did not appreciate impressionist work, for they thought it looked childlike. Nowadays, Claude Monet is known as one of the most famous painters of all time.

The last painting I chose is called "The Starry Night" by Vincent van Gogh. I chose this painting because it was hanging in the room of my first art class in kindergarten. I absolutely love the color choice and subject matter.
