Exhibiting the age-old view that men are robust and strong, the superior of the genders.
Cleopatra, though often shown as an elegant white woman, was in fact a African princess who was taken from her home, then forced to conform to European visions of beauty.
Every culture has a social expectation for beauty, and every expectation leads to insecurity for those who don't conform to it.
From a young age, girls are taught what they should and should not do to be 'pretty'. Those who either can't or don't take those actions are automatically considered ugly.
