Ravi Kulkarni                       Bijapur                                 TopIC: hISTORY OF Gol Gumbaz & Bara khaman

Description of Gumbaz: 47.5 metres (156 ft) on each side, capped by a dome 44 m (144 ft) in external diameter. It do echo of our sound for "Eight times".                                                                                                    Mausoleum of Mohammed Adil shah, Bijapur( Sultan).   Bara khaman: It means Bara: 12 pillar in Row of 12 & 12 Coloumn. This atempt was made to bulid by Md's brother. Aim to build this pillar was to make fall of shadow of this pillar on Gol gumbaz. But Unfortunately, Mohammed got frustrated by this concept, he appeal his brother to stop this pillar construction, but his brother refused the words of sultan & simultaneously he started to bulid the pillar. In between, frustrated sultan forgot that he was his own brother, he just showed him a route of heavean. Because Sultan was in aware that if this pillar get constructed then, the value of gumbaz was to fall, so Sultan to keep his words for wife, he finally killed his own brother and kept gol gumbaz ever and ever. But still half constucted Bara khaman is present to see and it recalls the history.                                                                                                                                                                                      Thank u                                                                                      Ravi Kulkarni
