During the early morning hours of June 6, 1944, English, Canadian, French, and American military men and women of the Allied Expeditionary Forces (Allied Powers) led by Supreme Allied Commander, General Dwight D. Eisenhower, commenced 'Operation Overlord' (D-Day), the invasion of Normandy, France--a multi-national collaboration to defeat Adolf Hitler's Nazi Germany and the Axis Power confederation of Benito Mussolini ('Il Duce') of Italy and Emperor Michinomiya Hirohito of Japan (Pacific War). The following letters, pictures, newspaper clips, and videos, chronicle this major event as we mark its 70th Anniversary today. -Walker Johnson
