Take a Journey through the Night by Elie Weisel

Avnee Raje

The tone of this book is very tense. Elie and his father are constantly on their feet, trying to stay alive. Elie did everything he could to buy him and his father as much time as possible.
A day in the life of journal:https://docs.google.com/document/d/1tcs6Lczm42ChSUy2F3VOfgE9z6TF5m-I5UReJOm_8YM/edit Selected Epigraph: "Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness." ~Desmond Tutu I selected this epigraph because Elie Weisel and his father considered giving up many times throughout the story. However, in their toughest times, they kept each other alive. When one was losing hope, the other was encouraging him to continue, for they still had a bright future ahead of them.
Universal Theme: This books overall theme is hope and self sacrifice. Elie Wiesel sacrificed his own chance of survival for his father. He stuck with him till his last final moment, and urged him not to lose hope. Even when his father died, Elie persevered forward and survived what seemed to be an impossible journey.
This book takes place in several concentration camps scattered around Germany. Some include Auschwitz, Buna, and Birkenau. It took place from 1942-1944.
