In 1855 Queen Victoria of England's reception was held in the Hall of Mirrors.
Louis XIV decided to go to war with the Dutch in 1671. On one side of the painting, Mars shows him the victories that await him and the triumph that the war could bring. The king also listens to Minerva who shows him how terrible the war could turn out for him.
In the year Louis XIV died, he insisted on receiving the new ambassador from Turkey at his side is his great-grandson, Louis XV.
