Peace and movement
I chose all three of these pieces because they all share a common theme; peace and movement.
The Great Wave shows movement because of the raging ocean waves, but there's a quality of quietness because of the little range in color. Also the sky background is not turbulent like the ocean.
Rosquilla Sellers in a Corner of Seville depicts a simple city life that seems easy-going. Yet there's motion in the work they're doing. I also like the straight vertical lines of the buildings.
In Children's Playground this painting reminds me of "Madeline," which was one of my favorite shows and book series growing up. It's a wonderfully warm snapshot in time that is inviting.
