AP Euro: Post-Impressionism and Cubism

Post-Impressionism arose in the 1880s and further developed the Impressionist model. Rather than focusing on imitation of objects, these new artists tried to covey their personal feelings about the reality around them. This was the real beginning of modern art. Cubists tried to depict the world by recognizing the geometric designs that formed the basis of reality. Pablo Picasso and others pushed the envelope of art by making it less about depiction and more about subjective interpretation.
