This mukudj mask was created in the late 1900's by the Punu people in Gabon, Africa. This mask was created for different reasons. The main function was used for funeral celebrations.

Masks of this elongated type were worn by members of the powerful religious and judiciary secret society known as the Ngil, who acted as police and judges and also known as peacekeepers.This piece is made of Wood, kaolin, and paint.
