Block C Gallery-       Julianna Saccone

Instead of creating silhouettes that preserved profiles of loved ones and conveyed happy moments in ones life, Walker turned this idea around when she created The Rich Soil Down There, which portrays racial and sexual violence in the South before the Civil War. By pasting different images along a dark background, it shows the audience the harsh reality of what happened in the time period.
