The theme of my gallery is Impressionist artworks, I choose this simply because I personally enjoy the movement of this style and the expressive brush strokes utilized. The use of lighting and colors evokes a sense of emotion. Boulevard des Capucines, made in 1873 by Claude Monet is one of the impressionist pieces I placed in my gallery; this 79.4 by 59 oil on canvas piece utilizes all the elements I love about impressionism. Monet’s brush strokes help me see the movement of the people on this busy Paris Street. Monet’s use of colors and light helps me feel the crisp cool winter air. I like when artwork pulls me in and makes me feel what the artist is conveying. To me that is great art.
