The Abduction of Europa, Rembrandt Harmensz. van Rijn, 1632, From the collection of: The J. Paul Getty Museum
The Abduction of Europa is on the animal which she climbed on and is taking her away from the people who she was originally with. Some visual elements that found with this artwork are contrast and movement. The lighting that is shining down onto the animal, water, and the two people on the river ban with movement in the water and on land.
View of Warsaw from the Terrace of the Royal Castle, Bernardo Bellotto called Canaletto, 1773, From the collection of: The National Museum in Warsaw
This artwork called View of Warsaw from the Terrace of the Royal Castle. This painting looks over the city of Warsaw, Poland. This painting was created by Bernardo Bellotto in 1773. If you zoom in on the picture you can see people out onto the stairs. In the middle you can see a man riding his horse circling a man tied to a post. I think the people on the stairs are overlooking the ruling that they made in court Movement and color are my choices for elements. You can see this artwork is colorful as well as movement from people and the horse in the courtyard.
Parson Weems' Fable, Grant Wood, 1939, From the collection of: Amon Carter Museum of American Art
The Parson Weems' Fable looks to be about our first president George Washington with an axe. Looks like George Washington is trying to cut down a cherry tree but someone is trying to prevent George from doing it while another is looking on. Nature and color are two good choices for elements. Due to being outside and different colors from the grass, sky, and clothing.
St. Francis in the Desert, Giovanni Bellini, Around 1480, From the collection of: The Frick Collection
This painting has St. Francis in his little own place but off in the distance there is a castle. St Francis looks to be looking up in the sky like he was looking up to god for answers. In this painting religion and movement can be used due to him looking up to the lord and movement.
A Sunday on La Grande Jatte, Georges Seurat, 1884-1886, From the collection of: The Art Institute of Chicago
This painting I like due to the people and how simple it is. People of La Grande Jatte are sitting and laying down on the grass just hanging out and taking in the beauty of the day while the animals are playing around like you see next to the lady in the purple dress. The women and nature are the most described in this painting due to the picture having tons of women than men outside in nature watching sailboats are watching their kids and pets.
Muse on Pegasus, Odilon Redon, 1907/1910, From the collection of: The Museum of Modern Art, Gunma
This as well is an interesting painting. The Muse on Pegasus different just because it has a human and a horse which I only imagine is Pegasus and nothing else but colors. Pattern and color is great for this painting due to the patterns in the background but different colors.
View of the Château de Fontainebleau, Pierre-Denis Martin, 1718/1723, From the collection of: Château de Fontainebleau
View of the Château de Fontainebleau is also a nice painting due to a beautiful view from the people on the hill to the back of the painting. One thing that isn't pretty about this painting is the fighting and killing on the hill. The contrast is bright where the people are but then it gets darker and the nature of this painting is the landscape of everything behind the fighting.
Undergrowth with Two Figures, Vincent van Gogh (Dutch, b.1853, d.1890), 1890, From the collection of: Cincinnati Art Museum
Undergrowth with Two Figures is a creepy painting due to the two people with no faces are in the woods at nighttime. This seems like it came out of a movie but then agin this was made in 1890. Nature of this painting is the couple are in the woods walking in grass/weeds and the color is crazy. Two different colors on the trees and the grass/weeds are green but has a lighter color on the top.
View from Stalheim, Johan Christian Dahl, 1842, From the collection of: The National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design, Norway
This painting is another pretty one because of the terrain. This painting looks like it was from a distance away on a hill and the artist painted what he/she is seeing. Nature of this is the entire place from the roads to the houses to the mountains and the color is on point when the sun shines down the grass is greener and when it isn't its just dark. Plus there is a rainbow which makes it even more colorful since it has all the colors.
Tahitian Woman with a Flower, Paul Gauguin, 1891, From the collection of: Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek
The Tahitian Woman with a Flower is well just look at this painting what else is there to it. This woman is just holding a flower while the artist painting her. Patterns like the background are the same but on the opposite side of the Tahitian Woman with a Flower. Color of this picture is purple, white, yellow, black, and brown.
