Christianity: Biblical events - Matthew Starnes

This gallery will display various styles and techniques that artist have used to depict major events from the Bible. The events will go from the Old Testament to the New Testament. The pieces of art displayed have been created by paintings, sculptures, and other mediums.

In this picture of Adam and Eve, Lucas Cranach is showing two things; he is showing the simple beauty of Adam and Eve and also the temptation that Satan provoked by convincing them to eat an apple from the forbidden tree. This was one of the first important events that happened in the Bible.
In this image created by James Jacques, Adam and Eve are being pushed away from the Garden of Eden (Paradise). James is showing that as a result of Adam and Eve eating the apple from the Forbidden Tree, God sent angels to drive them away from paradise. This was the next major event in the Bible after eating the forbidden fruit.
In this picture by Jan Brueghel, he is showing all of the animals being ushered to the Ark. He is also showing all the amazing creatures that God created and instructed Noah to load on the art. He shows the importance and beauty of all of God's creations by using vibrant colors throughout the picture. This was a major event in the Bible because God instructed Adam to build a massive boat to house a male and female of every species before God flooded the Earth to rid it on sin.
This statue of David standing on the head of the mighty Goliath, Antonin is showing the power that such a little man had over a thought to be indestructible giant. He shows this by having David the little man, stand over the enormous head of the giant Goliath. This was a big event in the bible because David created a major turning point in a war.
In this picture by Francesc Pla Duran, he is showing how amazing the birth of Jesus Christ was. He does this by making the baby the center point of the picture and by having all the people in the room look at him. This was a major event in the Bible because Jesus was the one that showed the glory and the way to the Lord and everlasting life.
In this picture by the famous Leonardo da Vinci, he shows the last meal between Jesus Christ, his disciples, and his his virgin mother Mary. Da Vinci made Jesus the the main focal point of the picture by placing him in the middle of the table and the picture. This was the last major event in the Bible before Jesus was sacrificed on the cross.
In this painting by Marco Pino, he is showing the sadness of the day Jesus Christ was sacrificed on the cross. He does this by making Jesus and the cross the center point of the painting and by showing the dreary faces of his mom Mary and a couple of his followers. This was the major point in the Bible because Jesus was sacrificed on the Cross because he was considered a false prophet.
In this picture of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, Hans Baldung shows the sadness of Jesus' mother Mary and his disciples and followers by the expressions of their faces. He also shows the happiness of the Romans by the grateful gestures they are making. This was a major point in the Bible because Jesus was sentenced to death for being considered a false prophet
In this statue by Damia Campeny, the artist is showing the respect that Jesus' followers had for him. He does this by making the people look like they are being very carful and gentle with his body. He also is showing the sadness of some of his followers by the sad expressions on the people in the statue. This was a major event in the Bible because nobody thought the Jesus would come back from the dead except his followers.
In this picture of the Resurrection by Albrecht Durer, he is showing the fear and awe of the Roman soldiers and the followers of Jesus Christ. He does this by using strong facial expressions in each person in the portrait. He also makes Jesus the focal point in the picture by placing him in the center and by having everyone look at him. This was a major event in the Bible because nobody but his followers believed him until God resurrected him from the dead.
