I will be choosing all paintings of the ocean and different water ways. I chose the water as my theme because i love the peacefulness of it. i think this painting is about a foggy morning in the coast of a forest where this area is unknown by the people of the earth. i think this picture was made by using carcoal colors, you can tell by the black sleekness of the mountains. i chose it because i thought it was such a beutiful oceanic picture. i love the way the the mountain blends with the fog and how the jagged rocks just pop out to you and you could see the sharpness of the rocks. the artist, Yokoyama Taikan, went to the Tokyo Fine Art School and from the begging was a fabulous artist. the artist always has chinese letters hidden with in the picture, in this picture the letters are in the bottom left corner of his picture. i am quite certain that that is the artists signature. the mood of the painting is peaceful and calm with a sleekness that moves though out the painting.
