Editing the truth

The Other- The other is a person or a group of people that is vastly different and alienated from the majority.

WW2 is the most disastrous result of the Other in the 20th century. It is the Nazis versus the Jews, Czechs, Poles, homosexuals, and the Roma. Their own version of the Other, turned into prisoners
In most cases, people tend to alienate people because of their different appearance or culture. Viewing them as animals allows the person to separate themselves from the Other, like the apes shown.
For some people the concept of the Other is what has kept them alive. Malcolm X, for example, claimed that never trusted whites and was careful not to be fooled by their appearance.
"We cannot think of uniting with others, until after we have first united among ourselves" -Malcolm X. This piece depicting 61 Chinese ethnic groups, shows that the Other is present in other nation.
This mural, located in Compton, highlights the local ideology of the Other. "The only way we'll get freedom for ourselves is to identify ourselves with every oppressed people in the world" -Malcolm X.
Physical contrast makes it easier to categorize and alienate objects or people. Contrast in this piece clearly shows how different the crayon drawing and the graphics are. Like color versus darkness.
The art piece had previously been the little girl in black; however, now there are several pieces interacting with it. This is meant to represent how people view the "race problem"; with little hope.
This street art depicts an exaggerated form of differences between women in this part of the world and the rest of society. This also shows how women feel about their situation and how they are seen.
From the perspective of the Other, you are alone in the alienation. Much like this Bird-women you are one of a kind, most of the time in the worst way possible.
"You can't separate peace from freedom because no one can be at peace unless he has his freedom." -Malcolm X. Despite wanting segregation in the past, Malcolm X came to the conclusion that we are one.
