Versailles

This was the Queen's bedroom while it was under construction in the early 1960s. I find it very interesting how much stone and concrete were used in rooms like this. It gives you a an idea of how much money was really spent on Versailles.
The Vaults of the Orangerie is one of the crowning achievements of Jules Hardouin-Mansart which best shows his talent as a great architect.
This is a picture that was taken during the renovation of the attic above the Queen's bedroom. I thought the architecture of this room was very interesting, especially the framing of the floor.
This is a wash house for the people of Versailles, where people's clothes would be washed. It was damaged in 1929 when a branch from a poplar tree fell on it. Even the architecture for simple buildings was impressive.
This is a picture of the artillery located at Versailles. As you can see, Versailles was heavily defended and a safe place to go. This picture was taken in 1870.
