Works of art and architecture that I would like to see in person.

The Lincoln Memorial Statue is a sculpture that uses irregular shapes and negative space to create an overall effect of likeness of President Abraham Lincoln. The statue uses form by creating a 3D effect to make it look lifelike. The statue has a tone to it because of the highlights that is seen when the light hits the statue creating shadows. Visual texture is created by the use making the carving material look like fabric and hair. The statue has small patterns in the armrest that look like books on either side of him arms. The statue is monochromatic because it is all one color. Lastly the composition of the Lincoln Memorial Statue is closed because it doesn't make the eye wander and it is aesthetically pleasing to the eye.
The Crow on Night Cherry is a painting that has a limited color palette of black, white, grey, and red. The composition of the painting is closed and aesthetically pleasing to the viewer with its symmetry and fluidity. The pattern of the flowers and how they are arranged make the flowers look more realistic. There isn’t actually texture to the painting that I can tell but the visual texture gives the illusion that the flower can be touched. The painting has tone painted into it by painting shadows it makes the painting come to life. The painting uses irregular shapes to create the flowers and crow.
The Mona Lisa painting uses a closed composition with how the painting is arranged. There are many colors within the painting from warm to cool colors to create the effect of life in the background and in the face of Mona Lisa herself. There is a texture to the painting with the use of a paint brush to make the material of Mona’s clothes look like they flow on the her body. The painting has tones from the shadowing at the eyes that make her look mysterious and all around her face to imitate the shadowing of the human face. The artist used tone and perspective to create an illusion of a 3D woman within a 2D painting. Mona Lisa’s face has contouring on it to make the face look lifelike and create an expression with her lips and eyes.
The Cleopatra is a sculpture that uses irregular shapes and negative space to create an overall effect of likeness to Cleopatra. The statue uses form by creating a 3D effect to make it look lifelike. The statue’s tone is shown in highlights that is seen when the light hits the statue creating shadows within the creases in her gown and headdress. The is a visual texture and actual texture to the statue within the clothes and facial expression the statue has. The statue is monochromatic piece of art because it is all one color. The composition of the Cleopatra Statue is closed because the eye is focus on the work of art as a whole and it doesn’t make the eye wander.
The painting Under the Wave of Kanagawa is closed composition painting that is appealing to the eye. The painting uses a limited color scheme to make the waves of water seem real. The paint does have a little bit of tone to show the distance from the front of the painting to the back of the painting. The artist created texture in the painting by making the waves look like they have claws that could rip through the boats in the water. There are many lines and variant of colors in the waves to give them depth of how powerful they are. This painting uses geometric and irregular shapes to create the effect the artist wanted to portray.
