Believed to reflect the feeling of the artist in a time of misfortune and sorrow. Husband Diego, had an affair with her sister Cristina. Frida, the artist, saw on the news how a man had murdered his spouse in a drunken rage and infidelity was the motive. Before the judge man said "but I only gave her a few small nips". Pleading his case in a conscience free state of mind. Frida took the news and coincided with the misfortune by painting this image.
