The women that shaped and influenced the world of art. These women prospered in a traditionally male dominated profession and opened the door for future women to pursues careers in art. I've selected these specific artworks to show together because they represent the how far women have come and how heavily they have influenced artists both men and women.

I chose this self portrait by Artemisia Gentileschi because she is one of the most influential women artists in the baroque time period. This particular piece is one of her final creations before she passed away. she finally got the recognition she deserved after living in her fathers shadow who was also a painter for many years.

I included this piece in my exhibit because Elizabeth Gardner was a pioneer for American women who wanted to study art. she was one of the first American women to have a piece in the Paris solon. This Piece is known for it emotion.

Women with a pearl Necklace is an impressionist painting by Mary Cassatt. Cassatt was an American artist who's art was featured many times in the Paris salon. I included her work in my exhibition because her style of impressionism received admiration from many.

Ellen Day Hale is included in this exhibition because she has made a significant impact with women pursuing careers in art. Her work has been praised by many especially the piece I have included June. The way Hale used light in her painting is what make this piece so highly praised.

Lilla Perry helped to bring the impressionist movement into japan and for that she is highly recognized. Perry is an important influential women because she had no formal training until later in life however that did not stop her from pursing her dream and succeeding. Lady with a bowl of violets is an impressionist painting know for its brushwork technique and the light infused in the painting.

Berthe Morisots whole life has always revolved around art. she was a very successful artist with many works In The Paris salon and she has been praised by many. her work Peasant Girl Among Tulips is one of her well known impressionist paintings.
Cumaean Sibyl (after Domenichino), Angelica Kauffman, ca. 1763, From the collection of: National Museum of Women in the Arts
Angelica Kauffman is an extremely influential woman in art. She had so much success in her career, that is why she is included in the exhibit she has helped pave the wave for women artists. Cumaean Sibyl is a well know work of hers.

Louise Abbema is another artist that is a women whose whole life revolved around art in a time where males dominated the profession. At just 16 her work was featured in the Paris salon. She is included in this exhibition because she has influenced many artist around her. Portrait of a young girl with a blue ribbon is an excellent example of her skills and talent.
