Kylie's Art Space

Indians Spear Fishing, Albert Bierstadt, 1862, From the collection of: The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston
I like this painting because it looks like it could almost be a photograph. Also, even though it I know that the two are not related, I look at this photo and it reminds me of Peter Pan, which makes me feel whimsical and young again.
Spring of Ravine, Goto Sumio, 1975, From the collection of: Adachi Museum of Art
I picked this one because all of the colors immediately jumped out at me! It is one of those pictures that you see more and more details the longer you look at it. I think its beautiful, and honestly I would love to blow it up and have it in a room to do yoga in and meditate.
Wisteria, Claude Monet, circa 1925, From the collection of: Gemeentemuseum
For me Monet is timeless. I am not a very big fan of modern day art and i think that its because of artists like Monet. He captures abstraction in a classy way, the colors compliment and bled, and the painting itself is still beautiful.
Urban Light, Chris Burden, 2008, From the collection of: Los Angeles County Museum of Art
I chose this one because I have actually been there in person and this photo does not do it justice. When you're physically there the lights make you feel soft and romantic. Even though there are other people there looking at the lights too you have a sense of "aloneness."
I love this type of sculpture. When I see these types of sculptures I have no problem imagining the types of Gods that were worshiped back then. Greek and Roman sculpture influence is far reaching, and I love the smoothness of it, and the detail, overall craftsmanship is beautiful especially given the time period.
Approach to Mundi Mundi, Shaun Gladwell, 2007, From the collection of: Art Gallery of New South Wales
I look at this picture and I see freedom. I see someone living life. I picture myself in their place, arms thrown and laughing! Sometimes in life it does not take much to make us feel alive and a little wild, even if its just driving down the center of the highway.
F.D.R. Loves Lucy Rutherford, Arthur Schatz, 1966-08-19, From the collection of: LIFE Photo Collection
I actually pinned several from this collection because so many of the photos captured my eye and interested. I like this photo simply for the style, ad the subtle message of "No Trespassing". It could be a metaphor for anything.
Graffiti Collectif 2013 Tribute to Kijno, 9eme Concept, 2013/2013, From the collection of: 9eme Concept
This is another collection that I greatly enjoyed. I'm a mom myself so to see a city reaching out to families and encouraging creativity it speaks to me. In a way I feel like this is their way to take back their city, and turn something meant to be damaging into something beautiful.
Waterfall, Takeuchi Seiho, 1925, From the collection of: Adachi Museum of Art
This is titled waterfall, and from a little bit of a distance it looks like a waterfall like you would see in nature. However, up close I feel like it takes on another picture, and makes you wonder at perhaps a deeper meaning.
Lincoln, Kang, Hyung Koo, 1999, From the collection of: Korean Art Museum Association
I LOVE this picture of Abe Lincoln. He is my favorite president by far and I think that by just ever so slightly highlighting the blue in his eyes they highlight his honesty. You can see it in his eyes that he was genuine and he cared. I also think that this photo makes him look younger than most of his portrayals.
