Drawing and Painting

A Dog Under a Paulownia Barking at the Moon, Jo Seok-jin, 1853/1920, From the collection of: Korea Data Agency
This dog is sitting under a tree barking at moon. The dog is all alone. It would be difficult to tell that it was night in the background if the title wasn't what it is.
A Dog Under the Moon, Shin Yun-bok, 1758/1858, From the collection of: Korea Data Agency
This dog is also sitting under a tree. It is lonely. The dog also is seemingly in what looks to me like a forest.
Figure Studies and Study of Dog, Santiago Rusiñol, Around 1883, From the collection of: Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya - MNAC, Barcelona
The dog is in town and the hidden man does not like him. There seems to be a fire in the background. The dog doesn't seem to have a care in the world.
Puppy, Seiho Takeuchi, 1934, From the collection of: Yugawara Art Museum
This puppy is sad because he is all alone. There is a lot of detail in his face. It reminds me of my dog Sadie.
Puppy Playing with a Pheasant Feather, Attributed to Yi Am, Korean, 1499 - 1566, 16th century, From the collection of: Philadelphia Museum of Art
This is a puppy that I feel is learning to hunt pheasant. It also seems to be playing more than learning. This seems like one of my dogs, Bacon, who enjoys playing with the birds. . . not hunting them.
Untitled [Two Dogs Fighting], Bill Traylor, 1939/1947, From the collection of: High Museum of Art
These dogs are fighting over something. They also could be playing. It looks like how my dogs Sadie and Tazer would fight when they first met.
Carousel Dog, Robert Pohle, c. 1938, From the collection of: National Gallery of Art, Washington DC
This is a dog that reminds me of a riding horse despite the name. It looks like a large lab. All 3 of my dogs are labs.
Carousel Dog, Dorothy Handy, c. 1939, From the collection of: National Gallery of Art, Washington DC
This dog looks like one of the horses on the carousel. I feel that is the artist's intent because of the name. It has great detail and character.
Porcelain Dogs, Walter W. Jennings, 1935/1942, From the collection of: National Gallery of Art, Washington DC
The dogs are sitting under what seems to be a tree. They are friends and like each others company. This reminds me of my dogs, Sadie and Bacon, who are best buddies.
Figure of a dog, 12th century, From the collection of: Freer and Sackler Galleries
This dog has great posture. It looks like one of those terriers that is one the dog shows. It reminds me of when I would take my dog into the house and watch the dog show with it.
Figure of a dog, -1/1, From the collection of: Freer and Sackler Galleries
This is a dog that seems to be sitting on command. This shows how smart dogs are when they listen to what you say. This dog seems to want something based on how it is sitting attentively.
Dog's head, late 3rd century B.C.E.-early 3rd century C.E., From the collection of: Freer and Sackler Galleries
This is a dog's head. The dog looks happy. It makes me thinks of my dogs when they want a treat. I think if it had a body it would be sitting with it's paw out to shake.
