"Le Montreal" by Miyuki Tanobe depics a game of hockey in the streets of a snowed it town. The use of vibrant colors and contrast immediately grabs the viewer's attention. Colors also represent the fun time the children are happy. Most likely, the children are out of school and because of all the snow, and they are especially excited about it.

A modern use of blue and orange is used for maximum color contrast between the subjects and background. What you'll also notice is the woman in the middle is in black and white. How each character is colored most likely is a reflection of who they are.

"Monochrome Stencil" shows a man sitting with his legs crossed. He is in black and white. This clearly separates him from the surrounding 'noise' type art, with the exception of a high contrast portfolio of a girl.
