Op deze foto zijn twee Marind Papua mannen te zien: het haar van degene met de pijl en boog wordt verzorgd door de andere man. Het huis op de achtergrond is mogelijk de ambtswoning van L.M.F. Plate in Merauke, die daar assistent-resident was van september 1912 tot oktober 1915.
