  • About Creator: José Rodrigues da Silva (1914-1977) stands out among the other ceramists in Alto do Moura, Caruaru, PE, due to his repertoire of religious themes and regional figures from the Northeast of Brazil, like Lampião and Maria Bonita, His overlarge pieces demanded the building of new ovens in the community. As to his technique,he developed a glassy finishing and was considered a master, according to Frota (2005).Unlike most of this contemporaries, Zé Rodrigues had no children.
