The Museu de Folclore Edison Carneiro, established in 1968, is part of the Centro Nacional de Folclore e Cultura Popular (CNFCP), a special unit of the Instituto do Patrimônio Histórico e Artístico Nacional (IPHAN). It is located in the architectural complex of the Catete neighborhood, in Rio de Janeiro (RJ), Brazil.
The museum holds a collection of over 17,000 objects related to the knowledge and practices of the Brazilian people. Created by various authors, using different techniques and coming from diverse origins, these objects are housed in technical reserves and are available for consultation by researchers.
