Agreement Federation of the Arab Emirates
The following are the signatories of this agreement:
His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Ruler of Abu Dhabi
His Highness Sheikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Ruler of Bahrain
His Highness Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai
His Highness Sheikh Ahmad bin Ali Al Thani, Ruler of Qatar
His Highness Sheikh Ahmad bin Rashid Al Mu'alla, Ruler of Umm Al Quwain
His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah
His Highness Sheikh Saqr bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Ruler of Fujairah
His Highness Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Ruler of Ajman
In view of the fact that the emirates of Abu Dhabi and Dubai concluded, on 20 Dhu al- Qi'dah 1387, corresponding to 18 February, 1968, an agreement to form a union between themselves in accordance with their wish to promote stability in their countries and to achieve a better future for their peoples,
And whereas it has been unanimously agreed that establishing a federation embracing all the Arab Emirates in the Gulf, including Abu Dhabi and Dubai, would achieve the aim which their two Emirates were seeking and which the aspirations of all the peoples of the area turn to,
And in support of the close brotherly ties between the Arab Emirates in the Arabian Gulf, and the numerous strong links which bind these Emirates together,
And in their eagerness to direct their efforts by all possible means to ensure a better future for their people and the whole Arab region,
And in granting the wish of the people of the area to promote stability in their countries and to achieve collective defense arrangements to safeguard their existence and preserve their peace and security, in accordance with the aims and principles of the United Nations and the Arab League Charters,
The Signatories and their accompanying delegations met in Dubai between 26 and 28 Dhu al- Qi'dah, corresponding to 25 and 27 February 1968, and concluded the following agreement:
