Archaeological human clay figurine

Archaeological human clay figurine fragment of lower male torso excavated in South African Iron Age archaeological site of K2, block 2, section 3, dating approximately AD 1030 - AD 1220.The figurine consists of buttocks, hips, thighs and male genitalia. The figurine has been moulded from a single body of clay. The buttocks are clearly divided by an incised line defining the two cheeks which are moulded portraying steatopygia features. The cylindrical torso is slim in comparison to the buttocks. This is the only clay figurine in the Mapungubwe clay figurine assemblage that depicts male genitalia.
