1970 saw the beginning of the controversial Peter Moro renovations, which involved converting Coopers' Hall into a foyer and the creation of the New Vic Studio.

The original Stage was altered and the 19th century machinery moved to make space for larger scenery. The Theatre ’s acoustics were damaged, but restored during the 2012 refurbishment.

This item was digitised by the University of Bristol Theatre Collection as part of Bristol Old Vic’s “Protecting and Sharing the Heritage of Britain’s Oldest Theatre ” project, supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
